An article by CBS News said that Chicago reportedly has 100,000 Gang Members who Commit 75-80% of the city’s homicides.
The gun control debate is all about limiting the type or style guns, such as “assault rifles” even though these legal firearms don’t cause the crime.
Technically speaking no gun has ever committed a crime. It’s the user, so we must ban the weapon in case a user decides to use a weapon in the future for non-lawful purposes. In other words, government is saying that you are guilty of a crime that you have NOT committed, nor even thought of.
Of course we have some 9,000 existing gun laws on the books, and people go to jail in most states for committing most crimes, including gun crimes, but that is irreverent to the gun control crowd. We must ban the gun that LOOKS the scariest and does less damage on impact than a shot gun. OOPS don’t give them any ideas!
There is no national discussion about getting tough on felons, keeping felons in prison, having the death penalty as an option of or gang members who commit murder.
In fact, Illinois’ Democrat-controlled government abolished the death penalty in 2011. So if you kill someone in Illinois, the Democrats have guaranteed that you will be protected from being put to death yourself.
The liberals were concerned that innocent people who be put to death. On top of that the Illinois governor Pat Quinn (D), commuted the sentences of all 15 inmates remaining on Illinois’ death row.
Even thought a trial court of their peers concluded that they should be sentenced to death for their heinous crimes, the (D) governor has decided to just keep them in prison for life.
This move may cost Illinois tax payers $38,268 per year, per prison plus future health care. After all, you have the keep the death-row inmates healthy before they will die in prison anyway, right?
