Misleading graphic:

Stock Market
1. Stock market has increased substantially from the recession low. Historically, U.S. major market indexes tend to recover to some extent after a recession as valuations of companies become very cheap to own. Current stock market indexes can be seen here.

Unemployment
2. Employment data excludes those not in labor force, expired unemployment benefits, those given up looking for work in last 30 day period. See our jobs reports for analysis of the data.

GDP Growth
3. U.S. Growth rate using quarterly, not annual government data, peaked in July 2014 at 4.6%. GDP data dropped by more than 50% in late 2014 to mid 2015 to a low of +0.6%. GDP increased to 3.9% on a quarterly basis in spring 2015, but fell 50% the following quarter, then fell another 50% the quarter after that.

Deficit GDP%
The chart above also manipulates GDP by using percentage terms. Real GDP by government math has averaged 1.4% (2009-2015). After inflation we are looking at a Real Growth Rate of 0.47%.

Consumer Confidence
4. Consumer Confidence never reached the low claimed in the graphic. During the 2008 recession CCS hit a low of about 55. The high is probably close and was the high since 2006, however the trend-line is currently moving lower. More on Consumer Confidence data (graphic):
