The FDIC seized three more failed banks today. All banks acquired by other financial institutions under FDIC approval and financial subsidized assistance. Darby and Tifton banks were acquired by Ameris Bank.
According to the Wall Street Journal, “The FDIC and Ameris entered into a loss-share transaction on $560.2 million of the failed institutions’ assets.” The Journal also noted that since 2008 Stearns Bank has acquired a total of six failed banks from the FDIC thus far with the latest acquisition being Copper Star Bank in Scottsdale, Arizona.
