The FDIC seized seven more failed banks today. All but one if the seven banks were acquired by other financial institutions under FDIC approval and financial subsidized assistance.
In the case of First Arizona Savings, a F.S.B., Scottsdale, AZ, the FDIC could not find anyone willing to take over the bank even with the FDIC huge loss guarantee program. The bank is thus likely to be liquidated and the FDIC to pay off depositors according to FDIC insurance limits.
Progress Bank of Florida (Tampa) reportedly had 21% of its loans over 90 days past due or no longer paying.
